Hi reader,

I’ve been devouring The Body Keeps The Score.

It has become a catchphrase over the past few years and, belatedly, I finally got to read the actual book.

The layers in how psychological trauma is stored in our body is fascinating.

But it also makes me realize how much we rob ourselves when we, as the classic saying goes, don’t let our souls catch up to our bodies 👻

One of the key parts in William Bridges’ Transitions talks about “the neutral zone”, a shapeless period between the ending of one thing and the beginning of another.

You can compare it to the chrysalis period between being a caterpillar and being a butterfly.

It is both.

Or neither.

But I noticed this was the same thing talked about in Natalie Nixon’s The Creativity Leap.

And Brene Brown’s Rising Strong.

The commonality?

Rest. Rest and patience to rest more.

The emotional labor required to swim from the safe shore to the new land cannot be underestimated.

It is this invisible work that we recover from as we sleep, as we dream, as we connect, and as we sit.

It is within these quiet spaces that our hearts do the most work, the most exploring, and the most healing 🌘

Offshore talent that come with impressive resumes

“She’s contributing far greater than an executive assistant. She’s also a project manager, podcast producer, copywriter, social media manager, and more!” - Chris Hutchins, All The Hacks

Known for their executive assistants, marketing, finance, and ops talent — Oceans is the global talent partner for brands like True Classic, Pattern Brands, and Othership.

It is easy to rush to the next set of parameters.

It feels safer that way.

But the next chapter won’t dissolve because we took a breath.

It won’t angrily shut the door if we actually take care of ourselves.

It won’t punish us for actually living a complete and full life, even if that complete and full life currently means slowly enjoying our food, pushing an unrealistic deadline we put ourselves under, or taking the time to talk to a loved one whom we sorely miss.

But the real danger is rushing out of that cocoon.

Running towards the next chapter.

And realizing, to paraphrase Transitions, that you’re just replaying the previous chapter.

Just with different actors 🎭
